Teaching Philosophy: Put simply, I want to give you the skills you need to be a lifelong maker of music, both on your own and with others. This includes basic musical fundamentals, techniques specific to your instrument and an experiential understand of how AWESOME it is to make music together!
Music Influences: My grandmother and my father, my close friends JJ and Tim, Jamie Cullum, John Mayer, Chris Thile, Needtobreathe, the Christian worship music tradition and many more.
When I’m not making music: I’m either playing basketball or eating/adventuring with family and friends.
Current Music Projects: The Band Apollo, ChoralArt, leader of musical worship at church.
Favorite place in Maine: My Parents’ House
Brad Longfellow is a native of the beautiful state of Maine and a proud graduate of the University of Southern Maine’s music program. He has a deep love for vocal music. Prior to working at 317 Main, Brad taught music at the British School of Bahrain in the Middle East. Brad directs the Local Vocals, 317’s adult community chorus as well as several other vocal ensembles. Beyond 317 Main, he plays in The Band Apollo, sings with ChoralArt, and volunteers as the leader musical worship at his church. He continues to practice a variety of musical genres including folk, pop, jazz, sacred, and classical. Brad says he’s privileged to a be part of the 317 Main community.
