Teaches: Cello
Evan Pillsbury is a Maine-based freelance cellist and founding member of Diamond Cove Trio.
Evan has performed with the Portland Symphony, Maine State Ballet, Maine Chamber Ensemble as well as a variety of Massachusetts ensembles such as Symphony-by-the-Sea and the Cape Ann Symphony. He has also done live or studio work with recording artists that include Fernando Ortega, Michael Card, the Wrecking, and others. Evan holds music degrees from Wheaton Conservatory of Music and Boston University. As a private cello instructor since 1995, he has served on faculty at such schools as Creative Arts (Reading, MA), Portland Conservatory of Music, L’Ecole Francaise du Maine etc.
While living in Northeast Massachusetts he also served as a visiting instructor in chamber music at Philips Andover Academy and as an assistant conductor with Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras. Evan’s cello students have participated in various workshops and festivals including the Maine All-State Festival.
A native to Southern Maine, he and his wife, Kathryn Pillsbury (violin), are proud to be raising three budding Maine musicians, Karis (harp and violin), Silas (cello) and Simeon (violin). Evan is also a bi-vocational Anglican priest, serving as Vicar of Light of Christ Anglican Church, Greater Portland.
