OPENING RECEPTION: February 10, 5-7 pm, food, drink music, artists, family and friends included.

317 Main Community Music Center Gallery is looking for art submissions for our next show opening February 10, focused around the theme of LOVE. Opening reception, where all are invited, will be held Saturday, February 10 from 5-7pm at 317 Main Music Community Center in Yarmouth, Maine. It is highly encouraged that artists participate in the opening reception and bring their friends and family as well as something to drink and/or eat. 317 Main Gallery will hang the show, provide atmosphere, music, promotion and contribute some food and drink as well.

We are looking for painting/collage/illustration/screen print etc…to hang on our lovely gallery walls to share with the community. The Greeks defined six different types of love: Eros-romantic love, Philia-deep friendship, Ludus-playful love, Agape-love for everyone, Pragma- longstanding love and Philautia-love of self. At 317 Main Music Community Center, we not only LOVE music and community, but LOVE sharing creativity and experiences. We would LOVE to receive your artwork expressing LOVE in its many forms to hang in our gallery.

Please submit a jpg image of your painting(s) with title/price/medium/size to: Marlena_Faxon@yahoo.com by January 20. If you have an artist webpage or contact info you would like posted on our web page, please submit that with yourjpg file. An artist contract will be sent to each artist and we request an artist statment/bio/CV/Resume-up to the artist-for our gallery book. Promotional materials will be posted in our facility, on our facebook page and the show will be advertised in local community calendars. 317 Main Gallery will provide each artist with an electronic poster/postcard for personal advertisement purposes. Artist reception will be a shared responsibility of food, drink and fun and will be organized closer to the event. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Artist’s Statement

Cheryl hugs well-wisher at art opening

My paintings try to capture a moment in time and a sense of place. They invite the viewers to create their own narrative. Saturated color and distinct brushwork give a feeling of realism while at the same time leaving room for individual interpretation. The images remind us that life is not static, but in motion. I hope you enjoy these moments I have created!

– Cheryl Seavey

Bio

Cheryl Seavey lives in Portland, Maine with her husband, two kids and their dog, Sally. She has a degree in environmental studies and sociology and has developed a strong sense of stewardship and community through her years of work for a local, non-profit organization and volunteering in local schools.

Living in Maine has enabled her to enjoy family, outdoor activities and creative pursuits. Her paintings are a reflection of that lifestyle and the things that inspire her. Having painted numerous commissioned pieces and sharing her artwork with family and friends over the years, she is excited to have her first public show at 317 Main.
