Our annual Student Showcase on June 16th, like so many events during this time, took place online with performers on Zoom. Family and friends, and the whole world for that matter, were able to enjoy the music streamed on Facebook Live. 20 student performers, age 8 to 65+ shared an impressive range of musical expression – a Texas fiddle tune, a Venezuelan waltz, an English Country Dance tune, the Harry Potter theme, pieces from the classical repertoire, and more.
We heard vocal standards from the American songbook, bluegrass from teen ensemble Flight 317, several original songs (!), and even a couple of musical theater showpieces, presented as full-screen, theatrical entertainment! (link below)
All of this underscored how resilient, talented, and engaged our community of students, teaching artists, and supporting families have been during this challenging time.
It was an uplifting reminder and celebration of our core principles at 317 Main – all on beautiful display: personal growth; creative expression; community connection.
Congratulations and thanks go out to all who were a part of it!
