We couldn’t be more proud of the participants in the 2018 Maine Acoustic Festival!  They worked incredibly hard throughout the weekend with their coaches Ellen Gawler, Bennett Konesni, Corey DiMario and David Surette to put on a fabulous concert at USM’s Hannaford Hall on April 8th.  This auditioned Festival was co-founded by 317 Main and North Yarmouth Academy in 2013 as a way to foster a love of traditional music genres including, Celtic, Franco, Bluegrass, Old Time, Maine Maritime, and Irish music.

This year’s festival incorporated a new partner, Portland Ovations, who brought renowned fiddler/composer Daniel Bernard Roumain into the mix. Roumain held a workshop at East End Community School in Portland that was free and open to all young string players. He also led a  master class for MAF participants.  Roumain will return to Maine on Friday, May 4th to lead En Masse–a community music jam that will wind its way through the streets of Portland.
