Kelly Muse

Teaches: Piano and Electric Bass

Teaching philosophy/approach: I focus on fundamentals, good technique, and careful analysis — but I always try to keep it fun. If a student walks by a piano and isn’t tempted to sit down and play, they are not likely to improve.

Greatest Music Influences: Brad Mehldau, Bill Evans, Pat Metheny, Bach, Billy Joel, Sting, Ben Folds and my many wonderful teachers.

When I’m not making music: I’m, reading, running, traveling, listening!

Current Music Projects: Mixology, (wedding band) Susie Pepper Quartet

Favorite place in Maine: Willard Beach

In addition to playing the piano, Kelly is an experienced bassist and guitarist. Playing different instruments in different kinds of groups, and in different styles of music, has helped Kelly foster a core philosophy: music is first and foremost a catalyst for connecting people. He is happy to be making connections with the students, parents, fellow teachers and music enthusiasts at 317 Main.
