DEI Media Club: February
February 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Welcome!
Please join us for our February Media Club gathering. This month, we’ll be discussing “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates and “We Should All Be Feminists” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. We’ll also be talking about the legendary gospel and acapella group, Sweet Honey in the Rock while listening to their 2000 album “Still the Same Me.”
Please note the time change of 5:30 versus the previous meeting’s 6pm time.
This club is FREE for all, you do not need to be a part of 317 Main’s community to join. Please email Melia at [email protected] for the Zoom link and more information.
Purpose(s) of 317 Main Media Club:
1. To reach out and consume media written by and featuring BIPOC, and other creators from marginalized communities to show our (monetary and vocal) support, recognition of talent, and gratitude
2. To read and consume diverse media in order to acknowledge and better understand the systemic and far-reaching way racism, white supremacy, and other forms of marginalization seep into lived experiences and stories.
3. To talk, learn, communicate, and hold each other accountable in educating ourselves through open, SAFE, and supportive self-study and discussion.
