 Building Community Through Music

317 Main Community Music Center brings the power of music to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds from across southern and mid-coast Maine. We were founded in 2004 on the idea that music can engage, vitalize, and strengthen human connections in our communities.

Exciting Upcoming Events

Digital Music Workshop 4/6

This workshop is for ages 10 and up. The goal of 317's Monthly Digital Music Workshops is to provide a supportive environment for students to grow and learn about electronic music production. Students will learn how to record audio, record midi and use midi controllers, sampling, basic sound design, and song arrangement. While learning about technology a main focus will be on the music creation, aiming to walk away from the class with recorded music they created in the lab. Workshop led by 317 Main TA Sean Grear.

Saturday 4/6, 5/4, 6/1

Join Robbie and Taylor for a monthly yoga class accompanied by live music. Classes are accessible to all ages and levels of practice. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Taylor has been teaching yoga for over 6 years in the Portland area. Her classes weave intention and movement together, creating space for reflection and surrender. Robbie is a multi-instrumentalist and board-certified music therapist in Maine. He believes that music can be a powerful tool for healing and connection. Together, you can expect a class that will leave you grounded and restored.

Irish Session Jam Maine

NEW Irish Sessions at 317 Main!

January 19th, February 8th (6:00pm), February 16th, and March 15th from 5-6:30pm at Fox & the Fiddle

Please join us for Irish Sessions at 317 Main, open to all musicians and geared towards beginner through intermediate players! An "Irish Session" is not a performance for an audience, but a musical conversation among friends that may just happen to have an audience.  It's informal, mostly unplanned, and fun. Come join us, either to listen or to play!

Partnership Programs

As a community music center, we know the power of arts education and its effectiveness in boosting student engagement and contributing to greater student achievement in other academic areas.

We believe that creative expression is an inherent right for all, and through our Partnership Programs we build collaborative, sustainable partnerships with schools and non profits to provide expanded access to music education in Maine.
