Presenting  Event & Program Sponsors: 317 Main seeks one Presenting Sponsor ($5,000) for each of our signature events and several high priority programs that we are seeking to grow. As a Presenter, the name/logo of your business will be featured prominently in all promotion and program materials. Just as importantly, 317 Main recognizes YOU as a champion and stakeholder in our mission to build community through music.  Thank you for believing in the power of music and for helping us share it with the community.

317 Main Deep Roots Program

317 Main Deep Roots Program

In 2015, as the field of Creative Aging was gaining broader attention among community arts educators, 317 Main recognized that an intentional, programmatic approach to serving this community was in order and the “Deep Roots” program was born. Today, more than 120 of our students are 55 or older and we offer 10 group classes each week specifically for this age group. But the unmet need is great. Maine has the fastest growing aging population in the nation and there are more than 52,000 Mainers 65 or older in Cumberland County alone.

As a Presenting Sponsor your financial support would help us

Offer affordable/discounted (25%) tuition rates for 55+ students in daytime groups/ensembles

Take Deep Roots ensembles  and their TA coaches into the community to perform their  music with other older adults at community centers, retirement communities, etc.

Underwrite our Deep Roots Socials

Sponsor wellness workshops for 55+ musicians

Underwrite space rental costs for larger Deep Roots programs – English Country   Dancing, Local Vocals.

317 Main Partnership Programs

317 Main Partnership Programs

317 Main Community Music Center collaborates with k-12 schools and other educational nonprofits to co-design and implement music education programs that give young people opportunities to express themselves in creative, audible ways.  We build projects in which students take healthy risks in supportive environments, develop 21st century skills, and build new relationships through music.

High-quality, small group music instruction contributes to deeper student engagement and boosts overall academic achievement, so we strive to break down financial, geographic, cultural, and other barriers that might keep a student from finding their musical voice.

Partnership programs are core to 317 Main’s mission of making music accessible to all.

As a Presenting Sponsor your financial support would allow us to:

Invest in a mobile “tech” classroom to use in various programs around Cumberland County. An investment of $5K could provide 15 iPads, a traveling cart for iPads/laptops, headphones, and other gear to bring on-the-go to our programs. This resource would be a game-changer for increasing the number of students we can serve and being able to create programs wherever students are.

The Partnership Program would be able to invest in a group set of ukuleles and band instruments such as guitar, drums, bass guitar and keyboards for use in various programs around Cumberland County. Many of our partners want to provide instrumental programs to their students, both because of the enthusiasm students have for learning an instrument as well as the learning opportunities regular musical instruction provides. These instruments would allow for us to start up ukulele classes with our partners, potentially reaching 80 new students in the first year. Additional band instruments would take our current songwriting programs to a new level by giving students access to a variety of composition tools.

Digital Music Program

Digital Music Program

In 2016, we recognized the growing interest in digital music making and committed to teaching this form of creative expression as another way to engage kids, tweens and teens.  These classes provide new opportunities for creative expression while building technical literacy skills among hundreds of Maine children and teens.

Our Digital Music offerings include tuition-free partnership programs with the Portland Public Schools and public library system as well as workshops at our home in Yarmouth and- – new in 2020, we’ll offer a week long beat making camp for teens.

As a presenting sponsor, your financial support would allow us to

offer 5 additional programs and give us the opportunity to partner with more schools and libraries throughout the Portland area.

provide 3 weekend intensives engage 24 students in an immersive musical experience.

provide 5 new laptops to increase the number of students who can participate in our programs to 13 people at a time or allow us to run 2 smaller programs concurrently.

317 Main has two MIDI keyboards shared between 8 students, but has no Launchpads for students to use in performance. Additional funding would provide 8 new MIDI keyboards, 10 new Launchpads and 2 new MacBook Airs for students to make the very most of their composing and performance experience.

317 Main Little Roots Program

317 Main Little Roots Program

317 Main’s Little Roots Program introduces the joy of music-making to children from birth through age 5.  We offer 16 Little Roots classes per week, with enrollment ranging from 75 to 100 students per session. Based on enthusiastic feedback from families and the demographics in surrounding communities, we know there is tremendous desire for more Little Roots programming both at 317 Main and in the community.

As a Presenting Sponsor your financial support would help us:

To purchase a new set of digital pianos to benefit students in our group piano classes. This would ease the transition for students practicing at home or transitioning to private lessons as they get older.

To create materials to support families in bringing their music class experience into the home. Similar programs have had success with a lending library that includes recordings of class songs, simple instruments, and story books that are intended to be sung. This resource would provide parents of our youngest students a playful way to “practice” their music at home between classes.
